  • Commission for New York World's Fair Collection

The Commission of New York World's Fair Collection features several images of the Illinois Pavilion and its visitors. The theme of the pavilion was "Land of Lincoln." The Illinois Pavilion at the 1964-1965 World's Fair featured two statues of Lincoln outside and exhibits of Lincoln-related items inside. The highlight of the pavilion was the Walt Disney-designed audio-animatronics show, "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln."

The Virginia Marmaduke Papers, 1964-1965, at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum contains several related documents. Ms. Marmaduke served as the Special Events Director for the Illinois Commission to the World's Fair. The finding aid for this collection may be found at

Photographs in this collection include images of famous visitors to the Illinois Pavilion, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner with attendees, and Walt Disney visiting the Abraham Lincoln Home in Springfield.
